About Jose Mangin

Jose Mangin is one of the most recognized personalities and voices in hard rock, heavy metal, and extreme music culture, transcending boundaries with an unrivaled passion and enthusiasm.

To be sure, the man revered as Metal Ambassador by Ozzy Osbourne, Metallica, and millions of SiriusXM listeners loves it loud. But his commitment to rock n’ roll is surpassed only by his love for people. Beyond economic class, race, gender, religion, or creed, Mangin lives to bring us together, with a genuine dedication to community and family and a celebratory vigor for life.

A beloved host, voiceover artist, and actor (as seen in the Amazon Prime series Paradise City), Mangin’s warmth and boundless drive endear him to true believers and outsiders alike. His unquenchable zeal permeates any project he’s involved in, regardless of genre or demographic.

As an energetic presenter and conversational interviewer, Jose’s broadcast television and digital host history include a four-year stint helming MTV’s Headbangers Ball; eight years with the nationally syndicated LatiNation, in over 100 major Latino markets; and multiple award shows. Programs broadcast with Amazon, AXS-TV, and VH1, among others, often utilize his natural talent.

Like the fastest music, he’s in constant motion. An authority on the combined force of relentless work ethic and ceaseless appetite for good times, Mangin helped launch the biggest hard rock channels in the world, Octane and Liquid Metal, serving over 20 years as SiriusXM’s longest-running rock radio host. He’s regularly appeared on The Howard Stern Show, Raw Dog Comedy, and the Covino & Rich Show. He tattooed his love of bands like Pantera and Metallica on his skin.

Jose hosted the historic Big 4 concert at Yankee Stadium (featuring Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax); Ozzy’s birthday bash at Madison Square Garden; multiple festivals organized around the United States by Danny Wimmer Presents, including Welcome To Rockville; Dean Guitars NAMM webcast; and rock n’ roll comedy roasts put on by Revolver and Guitar World magazines.

Born in Arizona, less than ten blocks from the border fence with Mexico, the grad school chemistry student turned satellite radio pioneer, event host, and broadcast personality works tirelessly to advocate for the music and culture he loves. Self-made with a full-ride scholarship, Mangin serves as a shining example of the possibility for kids like him everywhere to live their dreams every day.

A husband, father, entrepreneur, and loyal friend, Jose is full force with everything he does. Thanks to his considerable time living in the Southwest and the East and West coasts, Mangin is the ultimate hang for people from all walks of life, with effortless charisma and infectious charm. His immediate relatability earned the trust of countless rock stars and his fellow music devotees alike.

He carefully wields the trust he’s established with the community, only lending his ambassador support to brands he believes in. As Artist Relations Director, Jose represents multimillion-dollar clothing brand Affliction, working directly with talent, and Riazul Tequila, which he co-owns.

High-profile documentaries regularly invite Jose to share his expertise in music and culture, including The History of Metal and Horror (2021), Long Live Rock: Celebrate the Chaos (2019), and artist-led projects produced and released by bands like Lamb Of God, Anthrax, and Parkway Drive.

Jose studied chemistry at the University of Arizona and went to grad school for pharmacy in Memphis at the University of Tennessee. Eager to give back to hardworking academic-minded kids who love music like him, he established the Headbang For Science scholarship, given each year to a deserving student who wants to pursue a career in science and is passionate about heavy metal.
